Combat
Player combat begins when either a scripted or random encounter is begun. This typically is initiated from a random encounter while moving, moving to a grid location adjacent to a hostile NPC, or triggered by a quest event or player initiated interaction. Players supply a combat decision during each combat turn and the mob to target. The following are all valid combat decisions, unless a harmful effect prevents the use of a given decision.
NONE
Player forgoes their turn
MELEE
Player attacks using weapon(s) in their melee weapon equipment slot(s).
RANGED
Player attacks using weapon in their ranged weapon slot
ABILITY1, ABILITY2, ABILITY3
Player attacks using the abilities equipped into their characters ability slots
ABLITY4
Player attacks with the abilities equipped in the 4th ability slot. Only racial abilities can be equipped into the last ability slot.
FLEE
Player attempts to flee from the encounter. If flee is unsuccessful, character will take increased damage from enemies.
BRIBE
Player attempts to bribe enemies in an encounter. If bribe is successful, the pre-determined amount of EBON is deducted from the player, the mob is flagged as defeated, and items from the enemies bribe drop table is added to the loot table upon victory.
Combat encounters are ended when all enemy mobs HP has reached zero or a scripted event causes an encounter to end.
Time Limit
During a combat encounter, players are expected to take each turn in fewer than a couple minutes. Players will take increased damage from subsequent enemy attacks if their next combat turn is longer than the maximum combat turn duration. If a combat encounter exceeds its maximum encounter duration, players are killed instantly in their next combat turn.
These rules are to keep combat pace up and to avoid exploiting items and ability durations to make encounters easier than designed.
Death
If a characters HP reaches zero, the combat encounter ends and the character is transported to the nearest graveyard from their current location. At the graveyard, players must choose to pay a toll in EBON to be resurrected or wait 24 hours to be resurrected for free.
Another option is if a player has use Resurrection Stone prior to death, they may to their previous location prior to the resurrection. This item can only be acquired for EOS from the Shop.
Equipment
Characters can equip or unequip items at any time unless in an active encounter.
Abilities
Characters can equip or unequip abilities at any time unless in an active encounter.
